Alberta Forestry and Parks hired Premiere to replace aging wood vault toilets at three busy sites in Kananaskis Country: the Galatea Creek Trail parking area, McLean Creek Pond and the Elkwood Amphitheatre. Premiere was the prime contractor, chosen through a public tender.
At each site we took down the old wood building, pumped out and removed the old holding tank, and set a new precast concrete septic tank. New precast concrete toilet buildings were then lifted into place, painted and fitted with doors, hardware and fixtures. Crews finished with grading, backfill and landscape restoration.
All three sites stayed open to the public, so we set up and serviced temporary washrooms the whole time. Partway through, bird nesting was found at one location. Work there stopped right away, and Premiere brought in a wildlife biologist to survey the area and set mitigation measures with the Province before work resumed. Tight access at some sites meant careful choices of equipment and staging areas to keep ground disturbance low.
Construction on site took two weeks in August 2025. The Province gave final acceptance on October 30, 2025.
