Alberta Environment and Parks needed new toilets at two provincial recreation areas, Lundbreck Falls and Lake McGregor. Premiere won the competitive bid to remove three old wooden toilet buildings at each site and replace them with six new precast concrete vault toilets.
At every location we demolished the wooden building and cleaned out and removed the buried septic tank. The old tanks turned out to be cast-in-place reinforced concrete, which took real effort to break out. New precast concrete septic tanks went in first, then the painted precast double-stall toilet buildings with all their accessories. Crews finished with landscaping repairs.
The soil under one of the Lundbreck Falls vaults could not carry the new structure, so we dug it out deeper and replaced it with compacted engineered fill. The Lundbreck site also had tight access for cranes and trucks. An early heavy snowfall slowed erection, and painting had to wait for warmer weather.
Premiere still finished by the March 2023 completion date, without overtime or weekend work.
