Phase 1 of the Picture Butte Fire Hall project added a 3,400 sq. ft. apparatus bay to give the Town’s fire department the space it needed for its fire engines. Working with the Town, its architect and the fire department, Premiere developed alternative building options that kept the original architectural design while bringing the project within the Town’s budget.
The addition uses a screw-pile foundation and insulated precast concrete wall panels with a thin brick veneer cast into the panels. Structural steel was added to meet post-disaster building code requirements. The roof is steel joists and deck with rigid insulation and a 50 mil Dura-Tuff membrane. An aluminum façade system and large crown mouldings finish the exterior, while white-painted precast walls and ceiling keep the bay bright and open.
Inside, a mezzanine holds a new air compressor and a Hotsy boiler pressure-washer system. A rooftop make-up air unit with heaters serves the bay, and roof anchors were installed for rappelling training. We also upgraded the fire alarm system across the addition, the existing fire hall and the Town office, reinforced the existing hall’s roof with steel beams for higher snow loads, and poured new concrete approach pads and sidewalks. The project was scheduled for 18 months and finished in 12.
