For BC Parks, Premiere designed, built and installed three modular cabins to replace outdated seasonal housing for park rangers at Liard River Hot Springs Provincial Park in northeastern British Columbia. The site is remote: roughly 300 km from Fort Nelson and about 1,800 km from our shop, where the cabins were built.
Each cabin is wood-framed and clad in metal, with closed-cell foam insulation in the floors, walls and ceilings and extra exterior insulation for the northern climate. Inside, plywood walls and ceilings are finished with a clear coat, and each unit comes fully furnished with a kitchen and appliances, a wood-burning stove with propane baseboard backup, an HRV, and all-LED lighting. Composite decks and stairs with aluminum railings finish the exterior.
The cabins were trucked north and craned onto precast concrete pads and beams. Our crew set the foundations and all three cabins and finished the work in a single week. Wildfire highway closures and a highway washout complicated delivery, but the trucks and crane got through just before the road closed. The project was completed in July 2024, ahead of the required date.
