Incident Supply Units

Alberta’s Forestry Division needed three Incident Supply Units, built and delivered fast. Premiere won the contract to engineer, build and deliver all three. Each unit is a 60 by 12 foot building on an engineered steel skid, and all three went to the provincial service centre in Edmonton.

The skids are made of three runs of wide-flange steel beams with cross-pipe bracing, bollards and tie-down points, all coated in marine-grade enamel. Each unit has a fully adhered EPDM roof, pre-painted metal siding, commercial man doors, roll-up shutter doors and Low-E windows with metal shutters. A fall-arrest system is built in. Spray insulation gives R-28 in the floor and ceiling and R-20 in the walls, and the interiors are finished with FRP panels, vinyl-wrapped drywall and an epoxy floor that turns up the walls.

Each unit runs on its own diesel generator and carries a cargo power feed with storage for an 80 foot cable. Offices are heated and cooled by PTAC units, the storage space by an electric furnace, and a high-volume ventilation system with motorized louvres moves the air. Fold-up loading decks with removable ramps and guardrails are rated for 1,200 pounds. The units meet Alberta Building Code Part 10 labelling, with CSA-certified systems built for cold weather.

Work started in January 2023. Premiere ran procurement, fabrication and finishing at the same time and ordered materials early to avoid supply delays. All three units were tested, delivered and accepted with no deficiencies by March 31, 2023, the end of the provincial fiscal year.
